We've been getting a lot of questions about what's next for Octeth. Instead of waiting until releases are complete to talk about them, I wanted to share what we're working on and when you can expect it.
Two releases are in active development right now: v5.7.4 (a maintenance update for current v5.7.x installations) and v6 (a major version with several significant new capabilities).
Octeth v5.7.4: Maintenance and Refinement
Target Release: February 2026
This is a focused maintenance release addressing feedback from v5.7.x users. We've collected about 35 tasks from support tickets, bug reports, and feature requests, and we're working through them methodically.
Here's what's coming in v5.7.4:
Email Gateway Performance Improvements
We're optimizing the send engine for higher throughput and better resource utilization. If you're running high-volume campaigns through the email gateway, you'll see faster sending speeds and more predictable performance.
Spool Storage Enhancements
The email gateway will support both filesystem and Redis-based spool storage. Redis mode is particularly useful for containerized deployments where persistent filesystem storage is either expensive or complicated.
Journey Builder Refinements
Several improvements to journey functionality:
- Preview emails directly from journey send actions (no more switching contexts to see what the email looks like)
- Time range filter UX improvements to make scheduling clearer
- Better handling of "wait" actions with more granular timing controls
- Ability to set journey triggers for multiple subscriber lists at once
- Improvements to journey send email action configuration
Segment Filtering Fixes
Random subscriber filtering in segments had some edge cases that caused inconsistent results. We've fixed the logic and improved the rule set phrases to make segmentation more intuitive.
Subscriber List Health Monitoring
New visibility into list quality metrics - bounce rates, complaint rates, engagement patterns - so you can identify problem lists before they impact deliverability.
Website Event Conversion Tracking
Bug fixes for conversion tracking that were causing some events to not be recorded properly. If you're using website event tracking for campaign targeting, this release will improve accuracy.
Installation and Upgrade Tooling
Improvements to the installation process and new CLI commands (octeth.sh) for common administrative tasks. We're making it easier to manage Octeth instances without diving into config files.
Docker Volume Improvements
Better handling of persistent volumes in Docker deployments, particularly around database and Redis storage.
Campaign Report UI Enhancements
Stuck campaign report interface improvements - clearer status indicators and better filtering options.
This is the kind of release that doesn't have flashy new features, but it makes Octeth more stable, more performant, and easier to operate. If you're running v5.7.x in production, this update will be worth applying.
Octeth v6: The Major Update
Target Release: End of Q1 2026
v6 is where things get interesting. We're introducing several capabilities that fundamentally expand what Octeth can do.
AI Cold Outreach
This is the feature I'm most excited about. We're building AI-powered cold outreach directly into Octeth.
The system uses AI to personalize outreach emails at scale - not just inserting names and companies, but actually crafting contextually relevant messages based on prospect data, website content, and previous interactions.
We're recording a demo video to show how this works in practice. The capability goes beyond simple mail merge - it's intelligent personalization that adapts messaging based on what the AI learns about each contact.
If you've ever tried to do cold outreach at scale while maintaining quality and personalization, you know this is hard. We think we've built something that solves it properly.
Email Gateway (Run Your Own Sendgrid)
The email gateway we introduced in v5.7.x is getting significantly expanded. In v6, you'll be able to run your own Sendgrid-equivalent service.
What does that mean practically? You can:
- Accept SMTP connections from external applications
- Provide HTTP API endpoints for sending (compatible with popular ESP APIs)
- Handle inbound email processing and routing
- Manage bounce and complaint processing
- Monitor sending reputation across IPs and domains
This turns Octeth into a complete email infrastructure platform, not just a marketing automation tool. If you're an agency, this means you can provide white-label email sending services to clients. If you're an enterprise, you can consolidate all email sending through a single controlled infrastructure.
Advanced Campaign Audience Targeting
Campaign targeting is getting a major upgrade with dynamic audience filtering based on:
- Website event history (visited X page, completed Y action)
- Conversion tracking (purchased product, filled form, etc.)
- Journey event history (completed journey A, in progress on journey B)
- Campaign engagement patterns (opened campaign X, clicked link Y)
You'll be able to create highly specific audience segments without pre-building static lists. Target people who visited your pricing page in the last 7 days but didn't sign up, or who completed Journey A but bounced on Campaign B.
This level of targeting precision is usually only available in enterprise-tier platforms. We're building it into Octeth.
Send Engine Orchestration
Behind the scenes, we're rebuilding how Octeth manages email sending. The new orchestration system provides:
- Better workload distribution across workers
- Smarter throttling and rate limiting
- Real-time send velocity adjustments
- Improved failure recovery and retry logic
This isn't user-facing functionality, but it means more reliable sending, especially at high volumes.
User and Admin Audits
Complete audit logging for user actions and administrative changes. You'll have a full history of who did what, when they did it, and what changed as a result.
Critical for compliance requirements and security monitoring.
New SMS Gateway Integrations
We're adding several new SMS gateway providers, expanding the channel options available for journey automation and campaign delivery.
Multi-Variate Email Campaigns
Test multiple subject lines, from names, and email content variations simultaneously. Statistical significance calculations tell you when you have a winner. Automatic winner selection for optimal performance.
User Soft Delete
Instead of permanently removing users and losing historical data, you'll be able to soft-delete accounts - removing access while preserving audit trails and campaign history.
And More
There are several other improvements I'm not detailing here - API enhancements, UI refinements, performance optimizations, security hardening.
Why These Releases Matter
v5.7.4 represents our commitment to continuous improvement based on real-world usage. We listen to what customers run into, and we fix it.
v6 represents our ambition to build capabilities that traditionally require stitching together multiple platforms. AI cold outreach + marketing automation + email infrastructure + analytics - all in one self-hosted platform you control.
Most commercial platforms charge separately for each of these capabilities. Octeth gives you all of it, running on your infrastructure, with no per-contact pricing or artificial feature limits.
Timeline and Availability
v5.7.4 should be ready in February 2026. Existing v5.7.x users will receive upgrade notifications through the client area.
v6 is targeting end of Q1 2026. This is a major version, so we're taking the time to get it right. I'll share more specific dates as we get closer to release.
If you're an existing Octeth client, you'll get both updates through the usual channels. If you're not yet using Octeth but this sounds like something you need, fill out our contact form and we'll show you what it can do.
Get Involved
We build Octeth based on real customer needs. If there's something you wish Octeth could do, or something that's frustrating about how it currently works, let us know. A lot of what's in v5.7.4 came directly from support conversations and feature requests.
You can reach me directly through the client area if you're already using Octeth, or through the demo request form if you're evaluating it.
