Octeth v6.0.2 is out with the fix for PHP2Shell, the critical PHP vulnerability that is being exploited in the wild, so every self-hosted installation should upgrade now. The same release lets your clients connect Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants to their account, screens new senders before they hurt your reputation, and moves most of the admin area into a modern staff area.
Two critical PHP vulnerabilities, known as PHP2Shell, were disclosed today. They affect the PHP runtime that every self-hosted Octeth installation runs on, up to and including v6.0.1. We have no evidence that any Octeth installation was attacked. The fix is built and merged, and it ships in Octeth v6.0.2 on October 22. Cloud installations that we manage will be updated by us. Here is what happened, what we changed and what you should do.
Octeth v6.0.1 puts bulk SMS campaigns in the hands of your clients, with a cost estimate they must accept before anything is sent, a replies inbox and SMS activity in segments. It closes two vulnerabilities we found auditing our own code, and fixes a segment rule bug that could quietly sweep suppressed contacts into an audience. It's also the first release on our new two-week cadence — and a small, unglamorous release is exactly what that cadence is supposed to produce.
Octeth v5.9.3 ships today, and it's a hardening release: 258 of its 269 changes are fixes. We spent the cycle auditing our own API surface rather than adding features, and we're publishing the full accounting — because when you host your own platform, you get to see what a maintenance release actually contains.
