After installation, the server is yours to run
Octeth is self-hosted, so the upgrades, patches, backups and security of the server fall to you. That work is easy to postpone and expensive to get wrong.
Upgrades get postponed
A new release needs a backup, a plan, a quiet window and a way back if something breaks. Many servers stay on old versions because nobody has the time.
Security patches wait
Patches for Octeth, the operating system and its components arrive without warning. An unpatched mail server is an easy target.
Backups go untested
A backup that was never restored is a guess. Most teams find out it does not work on the day they need it.
Hardening is left at defaults
Open SSH, password logins and wide firewall rules are common on servers set up in a hurry.

Onboarding
We audit the server, harden it, set up backups and send you a written report. $390 once, waived when you pay yearly.
We keep it running
Backups and restore tests run on schedule, patches go on as they are released, and requests are answered in the portal.
Upgrades on your schedule
We install each release 7 to 14 days after it ships, in a window you approve, with a rollback plan.

What is Octeth Care?
Octeth Care is a monthly or yearly service in which the Octeth team maintains the server your Octeth installation runs on. We harden it, back it up, test the backups, apply security patches and install new Octeth releases. It costs $149 or $299 per server per month.
Is this hosting?
No. You keep your server, your hosting provider and your hosting bill. Octeth Care adds a team that maintains the server for you. Your license, installation and data stay yours.
How is this different from the annual service package?
The annual service package gives you new Octeth releases and support. Octeth Care is the work of installing those releases, patching and backing up the server. You need current updates to use Octeth Care, because we can only install releases your license is entitled to.
What does it cost per year?
Essentials is $1,490 per year and Plus is $2,990 per year per server. That is ten months of the monthly price, and the $390 onboarding fee is waived.
What happens if an upgrade goes wrong?
We take a fresh backup before every upgrade and follow a written rollback plan. If the upgrade cannot be completed in the agreed window, we roll the server back to its state before the upgrade.
Where are my backups stored, and who can read them?
Backups are encrypted with AES-256 on your server before they leave it, then stored in Cloudflare R2, separate from your hosting provider. You get a copy of the encryption key at onboarding. Without the key nobody can read them, including Cloudflare.
What access do you need?
Root access by SSH key, limited to our administration IP addresses and logged. We do not ask for or store passwords. You keep your own emergency access, and we remove ours when the subscription ends.
Do you guarantee uptime?
No. We do not control your hardware, network or hosting provider, so we commit to response times instead: within 2 business days on Essentials and the next business day on Plus. Business hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 16:00 UTC.
Does Octeth Care cover deliverability?
No. Octeth Care covers the server and the Octeth installation. Deliverability, IP reputation, PowerMTA and DNS are separate services. Ask us for a quote.
My server runs Octeth version 4 or 5. Can I join?
Yes, after a fresh Octeth version 6 installation ($1,270 per installation). Older versions cannot be upgraded in place to version 6.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Monthly plans end at the close of the paid month. Yearly plans can be cancelled within 30 days for a full refund. When you leave, we hand over your latest backups and remove our access.
